Jimei University is located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. It is a "double first-class" construction university in Fujian Province, a key construction university in Fujian Province. It is a joint University of the Ministry of transport and Fujian Province, the Ministry of natural resources and Fujian Province, Fujian Province and Xiamen city. It is a doctoral degree awarding unit and a master's degree promotion and exemption unit.

The school started from the teacher's Department of Jimei school founded in 1918 by Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader, and the aquatic and commercial departments of Jimei school founded in 1920, with a history of 100 years. In 1994, Jimei Normal University, Jimei navigation college, Jimei finance and Economics College, Xiamen Fisheries College and Fujian Institute of physical education merged to form Jimei University. The school adheres to the motto of "honesty and perseverance" and adheres to the principle of "establishing the school in the spirit of Jiageng and cultivating people in the character of honesty and perseverance" in the long-term practice of running the school, enjoying a wide reputation at home and abroad.

Due to the needs of teaching, Jimei University purchased more than ta.touch, which was developed and produced by Shanghai Baosheng Industrial Development Co., Ltd. to be used in the teaching of physical properties of food for undergraduates, and demonstrated the objective measurement methods of physical indexes such as hardness, brittleness, chewiness and viscosity of fruits and vegetables, flour products, meat products, candy, etc. for students intuitively and conveniently. So as to greatly improve the students' understanding of texture analyzer and the accumulation and mastery of food physical property knowledge.
